| The Alder fly's life cycle goes through complete metamorphosis. Larvae hatch from eggs which feed and grow in the water making their way to shore where they pupate into adults. The adults then lay their eggs on over hanging vegetation. The oldest imitative dry flies are thought to be of alder flies although it is now thought that the alder fly makes up much less of the trouts diet than previously assumed. | ||||||
