The art of fly fishing encompasses many skills from casting technique and water craft to entomology. Simply speaking entomology is the study of insects, and to better understand the feeding patterns of trout it is wise to learn about the foods that make up their primary diet, this way we can know what the fish is likely to be feeding on and how we can best mimick it.

The subject of entomology is vast but even a little knowledge on the subject can improve your chances of catching a fish dramatically.

I have covered some of the basics on this site, and can cover the subject in more detail during one of my lessons.

On the right hand side of the screen you can select a topic and read on about different insects and their life-cycles.
